Hardware Qualification Rules

To become a qualified hardware platform, a vendors hardware must have achieved the relevant requirements for inclusion in the official mainline as set by Linaro engineering on a release by release basis. Linaro uses a function called “landing teams” to manage this process on a vendor specific basis.

The following minimum viable requirements have been set for hardware platforms seeking inclusion in the 10.11 release:

Agreed landing team structure (Silicon Vendor & Linaro) in place by November 2010 BSP based on Linaro-selected kernel baseline with patches reviewed and on their way upstream Patch sets reviewed and assessed prior to feature freeze date Minimum of 4 boards available to Linaro engineering [8 to 10 recommended]

The following minimum viable requirements have been set for hardware platforms seeking inclusion in the 11.05 release:

  • BSP based on 2.6.36 kernel with patches reviewed and on their way upstream
  • Initially 4 boards utilised within Linaro engineering, ramping to between 8 and 10
